CLARKSBURG, MD-New recommendations made by Montgomery County planning staff for new construction in Clarksburg Town Center would drastically impact the scope of a project planned by Bloomfield Hills, MI-based homebuilder Pulte Homes.

The recommendations, if approved by the Montgomery County Planning Board and ultimately the County Council, would amend the original 1994 master plan for Clarksburg and only allow Pulte Homes to build a little more than 200 homes on a 538-acre parcel where it currently plans to build 1,000 single-family homes, according to the Washington Post. Much of the property would be converted into open space.

In a statement, Lewis Birnbaum, president of Pulte's Mid-Atlantic division, said the company was “highly disappointed” in the Montgomery County planning staff's recommendations that are to be presented to the Planning Board on Thursday. See story in the Washington Post.
