NEWPORT BEACH, CA-Maintaining a high level of quality in tenant-representation transactions in markets other than the one in which they're based is no easy task, but it's of extremely high importance to the new tenant-rep team at CBRE here. Achieving this goal requires good communication and strategic travel, the team tells GlobeSt.com.

As GlobeSt.com reported exclusively earlier this week, CBRE has hired a team of tenant-representation specialists to represent occupiers of office space throughout Southern California as well as nationally. Based in the firm's Newport Beach office, the seven professionals include Rick Sherburne, Alex Hayden, Travis Boyd and Robert Taylor, as well as three of their associates. Sherburne, Hayden and Boyd will be EVPs, while Taylor joins as VP.

Assuring that they remain effective in markets other than Southern California, where their own boots are not on the ground, is “something that's critically important to all of our clients,” Boyd tells GlobeSt.com. “In certain instances, they're not there either—they may have local operating groups, but they don't live there. We take a high commitment level to our clients and take a very hands-on approach to transactions, whether they're in our backyard, in other parts of the country or internationally.”

In addition, CBRE has a tremendous platform and reach, Boyd adds. “The firm has extremely talented professionals throughout the MSAs in which we work here and internationally. It's a pretty powerful combination to insure that we're providing a high level of service to all our clients here or around the globe.”

There's only a slight variation in the team's approach to Southern California transactions vs. other national markets, Sherburne says. “What differentiates our team is how we represent our clients. Whether our client is in Southern California or in Arkansas, in most instances we're going to travel to that market. We're hands-on, interactive and committed to our clients regardless of where they are. We've been successful because we've been narrow with our occupier group, but committed with geography and providing a high level of service throughout the country.”

Boyd says the team is “really looking forward to working together with senior leadership at CBRE and the talented professionals at the company across the globe. There's lots of enthusiasm.”

The general excitement about the firm's move to CBRE “became one of the common denominators,” adds Hayden. “It's a great opportunity for us.”
