AUSTIN-Area Development has issued its fourth annual Top States for Doing Business survey of site consultants – and Texas is atop the list. Among those consultants surveyed, Texas scored number one in the areas of business environment, labor climate and most mentioned by respondents, while being tied for second in overall infrastructure and global access.
According to Area Development, states were ranked based on number of mentions in 17 categories, with scores weighted based on the position in each category as well as overall.
Specifically:
- Business Environment in areas including costs, taxes, regulations and incentives,
- Labor Climate in areas including diversity, costs and development programs and
- Infrastructure in areas such as rail/highway access, shovel-ready sites, utility rates and logistics access.
