SEASIDE PARK, NJ-Fire Chief Brian Gabriel described conditions at the Seaside Park boardwalk here following a massive fire on Thursday that burned buildings from Lincoln to Farragut Avenues as “total destruction.”
At a press conference this morning, Chief Gabriel would not say how many businesses were destroyed in Thursday's fire that burned parts of Seaside Heights and Seaside Park, according to the Record.
The fire was reported about 2 p.m. Thursday and, within 15 minutes, was burning out of control. The fire, fed by strong winds, spread to businesses along the boardwalk, sections of which were recently rebuilt after suffering damage from Hurricane Sandy.
The area was evacuated and no deaths were reported. Some firefighters were treated for smoke inhalation battling the blaze. See story in The Record.
