LOS ANGELES-Real estate and business law firm Allen Matkins' has just named Fernando Villa as land-use partner and Scott Dommes as tax associate of its Los Angeles office.
With more than 30 years of experience in land-use and environmental law and real estate dispute resolution, Villa's knowledge encompasses the mixed-use, retail, industrial and commercial sectors. During his career, he has represented the 7-Eleven franchise in acquiring 200 locations in Los Angeles County, Tesla Motors in acquiring more than 100 acres of land from NUMMI to produce the Model S line, and counseled the L.A. Unified School District in CEQA and environmental law issues concerning a new school construction program worth $18 billion.
"The hiring of Fernando was a real team effort by many of our partners, and he is a fantastic addition to our firm,” David L. Osias, managing partner at Allen Matkins, says in a statement. “Our goal is to attract the brightest and most talented attorneys who fit Allen Matkins' culture of success, client service and community involvement."
New tax associate Scott Dommes was formerly a senior associate with Ernst & Young LLP, a transaction advisory services group, where he handled issues involving tax structuring, bankruptcy, stock and asset tax and internal restructuring. While at Ernst & Young, Dommes weighed in on financial accounting and tax compliance matters as well. He holds an LLM in taxation from Loyola Law School.
These are the most recent of several new additions to the Allen Matkins team. This year, the firm has added new partners, lateral attorneys and recent law school graduates to its offices in San Francisco, Los Angeles and Orange County. "This wave of recent hires is part of Allen Matkins' strategic plan and growth initiative," says Osias. Recently, the firm promoted six associate attorneys to the position of senior counsel, four of whom were from the Los Angeles office, and earlier this year, the firm named five new partners.
