MIAMI-Developer Jeff Berkowitz is poised to unveil his ambitious SkyRise Miami tower project here.

The more than $300-million proposal calls for a observation tower and amusement center that Berkowitz hopes will be Miami's version of the Eiffel Tower. If constructed, SkyRise Miami would be the tallest building in the city.

The SkyRise Miami tower would rise up to 1,000 feet and would be open on the sides to allow hurricane-force winds to flow through and would contain observation decks, an upscale restaurant and ballroom, and a pair of attractions for high-altitude thrill-seekers, according to the Miami Herald. The rides would include a bungee jump and a Tower of Terror-like ride that would drop approximately 50 stories along the shaft.

“I view this as a legacy opportunity,'' Berkowitz says. “It will forever cement Miami on the list of great world cities.” He plans to officially unveil the project to the city on Dec. 2. See story in the Miami Herald.
