WASHINGTON, DC-The law firm Nixon Peabody is relocating its operations from 401 Ninth St. NW in Penn Quarter to 799 Ninth St. NW.
Nixon Peabody will occupy three floors or approximately 65,000-square-foot at the 10-story building owned by Brookfield Properties. The 15-year lease reduces the law firm's presence in the district. The company's current offices on Ninth Street total approximately 90,000 square feet, according to the Washington Post.
Managing Partner Jeffrey Lesk said of its move, “Like any business, the number one cost of running a law firm is personnel, but real estate is a significant second place. Most law firms, us included, have a shift in mindset. We definitely want to build in opportunity for growth but real estate is too expensive to have too much space in reserve.”
The firm considered 23 office buildings across the Washington, DC region before deciding to lease space at 799 Ninth St. NW. See story in the Washington Post.
