HOUSTON-Developer Crescent Communities has scheduled the groundbreaking for it's The Groves housing development for next week that when completed will feature more than 2,000 single-family homes.

The Charlotte, NC-based homebuilder will turn the first dirt on the project in Northeast Houston on Dec.17. The project site totals 993 acres and will feature 2,2000 single-family homes, a 10-acre village center that will offer some retail, and a large amenity center, according to the Houston Business Journal.

Crescent Vice President Jim Zimmerman says the development will also include a pool and 1.75 miles of trails with Woodland Creek running through the length of the development.

“We based (our) design on (the idea of) 'create life in the woods,'” says Zimmermann. "Instead of a pocket park in a neighborhood, … we've taken the opportunity to trade lots for forest and buffer areas that the entire community can enjoy to enhance the sense of living in the woods.” See story in the Houston Business Journal.
