CHICAGO-After failing to land tax incentives it sought from state lawmakers, agricultural giant Archer Daniels Midland is expected to announce today that it still plans to relocate its world headquarters from Decatur to Chicago.

Multiple published reports cite sources that say an announcement of the relocation will come today. The headquarters move will involve 60 to 75 executives, not the 100 positions the company originally claimed in its push for state approval of payroll tax incentives worth $30 million over the next 20 years, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Also absent from the headquarters shift initiative is a technology center to be manned by 100 employees.

Decatur Mayor Michael McElroy says he had not heard anything official from ADM and notes that an ADM headquarters move to Chicago would be disappointing.

"But I'm very happy that they're staying in the state of Illinois," McElroy said. "There are still 4,000 jobs in Decatur, IL, that depend on ADM. And the many philanthropic and educational things they're involved in in our community are also very, very important to us. They're still a very, very large company."
