PHILADELPHIA-New York City-based Citibank is closing its remaining bank branches in Philadelphia and in the surrounding area.

The bank is shutting down five branches in Center City, one each in Germantown, Northeast Philadelphia and Bala Cynwyd, as well as offices in Cherry Hill and Lawrenceville, NJ ad on US 202 north of Wilmington, according to The Inquirer.

Citi spokesman Andrew Brent confirmed the bank branch closures. The nearest Citibank branch will be in Woodbridge, NJ. Brent said of the closures, “Philadelphia remains an important market for Citi. We maintain several key businesses including municipal finance, equities, Commercial Banking and Private Banking." He adds that Citibank continues to do business with some of the city's largest employers, middle market businesses, local affordable housing developments, and the Philadelphia School District.
