ASBURY PARK, NJ-Despite having federal funding in hand for months, the planned $4-million project to repair the south boardwalk here has been mired in delay.
At a recent session City Councilman John Moor said of the south boardwalk repair delays, “I'm trying to think of an adjective or adverb tonight and I can't think of anything,” Moor said. “Maybe deplorable. This is ridiculous.”
Plans have been in place for the boardwalk repair for almost a year, and FEMA funding has been available since October, according to the Star-Ledger.
Asbury Park Engineer Joseph Cunha said the delays were caused by questions about the project, which went out to bid on Nov. 12. A bid opening has now been pushed back to Dec. 27. See story at the Star-Ledger.
