NORTHHAMPTON, PA-FedEx Ground has filed plans with the Lehigh Valley Planning Commission and Allen Township to build a 1.3-million-square-foot package sorting center in Allen Township.
The project would bring more than 800 new jobs to the area, according to The Morning Call. The center could be open as early as 2015. The project will require approximately $25 million in road work to widen several roads adjacent to Lehigh Valley International Airport.
Don Cunningham, executive director of the Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corp., said of the FedEx Ground project, "It may have started out as a long shot, but they've come so far, so quickly. Barring some unforeseen snag, I think this is going to happen. This is a real game-changer." See story in The Morning Call.
