WOODCLIFF LAKE, NJ-Tax Court Judge Patrick DeAlmeida has ruled against BMW of North America in a number of tax appeals cases the automaker has filed against the borough of Woodcliff Lake over the past few years.

Judge DeAlmeida has ruled that BMW of North America, which is headquartered in Woodcliff Lake, must pay rollback farmland assessment taxes for portions of its nearly 86-acre headquarters property on Chestnut Ridge Road, according to The Record.

The ruling handed down last week denies BMW's hoped-for qualification for farmland assessment for 2007 and 2008 and calls for rollback taxes on the land for tax years 2004, 2005 and 2006. BMW pays approximately $3.75 million a year in property taxes for its two lots.

"We're happy with the judge's decision that it reaffirmed the borough's position," Woodcliff Lake Mayor Jeffrey Goldsmith said . BMW did not respond to requests for comment by the newspaper. See story in The Record.
