HACKENSACK, NJ-A change in zoning regulations two years ago to allow large mixed-use development here is now showing signs of bearing fruit.
Eric Anderson, chief executive of the Alexander Anderson Real Estate Group and a board member of the Hackensack Upper Main Alliance, has been approaching downtown property owners the past year and a half to negotiate sales. In fact, Alexander Anderson Real Estate has secured agreements from a number of downtown land owners to sell their lots and has bundled those properties into 12 packages that are being marketed to developers, according to The Record.
City officials and business leaders believe Hackensack is now on the cusp of becoming a residential hub in the region.
“There's a plan in place, and people are receptive to it,” says Anthony Rottino, Hackensack's director of economic development. “Deals coming forward. I think you're going to see, in the next 12 to 18 months, a transformation.” See story in The Record.
