PEQUANNOCK, NJ-Grocer Stop & Shop is slated to open a new store in May at the Plaza 23 shopping center here in space formerly occupied by A&P.
The deal with Stop & Shop was announced by Plaza 23 Property Manager Bryan Hekemian in a report in The Record. The space has been vacant for about two years after A&P decided not to reopen its store after the space suffered extensive water damage from Hurricane Irene.
TJ Maxx and Home Goods are the shopping center's other anchors.
Hekemian says the signing of Stop & Shop in November is important for Pequannock and adjoining Pompton Plains. "It's obviously been affected by two storms in a very short period of time, and I know the people in the town want the supermarket back in the community," he says. See story in The Record.
