LARGO, MD-Dimensions Healthcare System has asked state lawmakers for an additional $8 million more than what has been budgeted by the state of Maryland and Prince George's County for its new hospital project.

According to a filing to the Maryland Health Care Commission, Dimension states that the state and Prince George's County had promised to contribute $208 million towards the hospital's construction. At present, $200 million in funding assistance has been approved, according to the Washington Business Journal.

Dimensions also restated the total cost of the hospital has risen from an original $655 million projection to $667.6 million. The health care commission is considering the project for a "certificate of need" designation, which is necessary in order to allow the project to proceed.
