HOUSTON-Although the project has not been embraced by neighbors, locally-based developer Hines has begun site-clearing work on its planned office tower in the River Oaks section of the city.
Although Hines did not discuss the project's status, work on the site of the 17-story office tower to be developed at 2229 San Felipe began a few weeks ago, according to the Houston Chronicle.
Information on the project's website at 2229sanfelipe.com indicates the developer is abiding by its project schedule. Hines states on the website that the start of construction for the boutique 167,000-squaere-foot building would begin by the end of 2013. The building, designed by Ziegler Cooper Architects, is scheduled for completion by mid-year 2015.
The building will feature nine floors of office space with 18,500-square-foot floor plates and eight levels of parking (400 spaces).
Some residents who live near the project site have reportedly vowed to file a lawsuit in an attempt to stop the project. See story in the Houston Chronicle.
