WASHINGTON, DC-The National Capital Planning Commission granted final approval on Thursday to developer Donald Trump's plans to convert the Old Post Office and pavilion annex into a luxury hotel and conference center.

The ambitious project, which secured preliminary approval from the commission this past July, involves the development of a 502,000-square-foot hotel and conference facility. The complex will feature approximately 270 hotel rooms and suites. It will also include an 86,000-square-foot grand ballroom, a spa, restaurants, retail and museum space, according to the Washington Business Journal.

The New York City-based developer will lease the property from the federal government for 60 years at a base rent of $250,000 a month. See story in the Washington Business Journal.
