NEW YORK CITY-Office space provider WeWork is entering the Midtown South market of Manhattan. The firm is opening a new 63,300-square-foot office at 401 Park Ave. South.
The new office will be located on the eighth, ninth, and 10th floors of the office building owned by Meringoff Properties. Recently, WeWork, which caters to technology and new media companies, leased 120,000 square feet at 222 Broadway and opened an 86,000-square-foot space at 25 Broadway in Lower Manhattan. WeWork is also on the verge of a 300,000-square-foot lease deal at 110 Wall Street, according to the Commercial Observer.
Mark Lapidus, director of real estate for WeWork, worked with Derrick Ades, Barry Finkelman, and Patrick Nelson of CBRE in representing the tenant in the transaction. Farrel Virga, Mark Stein, and Jason Vacke of Meringoff represented the building owner.
“WeWork has been actively searching for the right opportunity for our business in Midtown South; after touring 401 Park Ave. South we immediately knew we had found it,” states WeWork's Lapidus. “The high ceilings, efficient wide-open floors, and great natural light fit exactly the aesthetic we were looking for and will enable us to create the culture that defines the WeWork brand.” See story in the Commercial Observer.
