CHICAGO-Locally-based Baker Development Corp. intends to demolish a Lincoln Park condominium building in order to build an $80-million luxury rental apartment project.

Warren Baker, president of Baker Development, says his firm plans to demolish the 30-unit condominium building at 2518-2540 N. Lincoln Ave. and build a 225-unit luxury apartment development there. The developer says it has signed contracts to acquire all the condominium units at the property, according to Crain's Chicago Business.

The project also would include 16,000 square feet of retail space and a 200-slot garage. Baker still must secure zone change approval from the city as well as construction financing in order for its plans to proceed. See story in Crain's Chicago Business.
