MIAMI-The Miami real estate market saw a first, at least in recent memory when on Wednesday three separate groundbreaking ceremonies were held for new condo developments in the city.
Miami City Commissioner Marc Sarnoff said, “We've never had a three-groundbreaking day in the history of Miami. I've done two, but never three.”
The three ceremonies were staged within four hours and four miles of each other on Miami's Brickell Avenue and in Edgewater, according to the Miami Herald.
Wednesday's ceremonies began at 10 a.m. at the site of The Bond, a 328-unit condo tower on Brickell Avenue. At about 11:30 a.m., at a vacant waterfront lot on Edgewater's NE 27th Street, developers Stephan Gietl and Fernando Levy Hara turned the first dirt on their 90-unit condo project, The Crimson. About three hours later, Related Group CEO Jorge Pérez initiated the start of construction on the firm's 453-unit SLS Brickell development. See story in the Miami Herald.
