NEW YORK CITY-Social media blogger Twitter has signed a lease deal for its headquarters space totaling more than 140,000 square feet at 24 and 249 W. 17th St.
The lease deal is with building owner Savanna, which acquired the two buildings in November 2012 for approximately $76 million. Savanna has since renovated the two adjoining buildings into one office property, according to Crain's New York Business. Twitter's new headquarters is located midway between Seventh and Eighth avenues.
Twitter had nearly inked a deal to establish its headquarters offices at 51 Astor, a new office building in the East Village. However, IBM's Watson Group's lease of 120,000 square feet at the building caused Twitter to look elsewhere. See story in Crain's New York Business.
