PHILADELPHIA-Beginning tomorrow, the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board will question officials with the five firms vying for the remaining casino license in the city of Philadelphia.
First up on Tuesday will be PA Gaming Ventures, LLC (Penn National), which is proposing to build the Hollywood Casino Philadelphia at 700 Packer Ave. PA Gaming is scheduled to appear from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will be followed by Bart Blatstein's Tower Entertainment, LLC, which is proposing The Provence casino at 400 North Broad St.
The other three applicants will appear before the PGCB in four-hour blocks on Wednesday and Thursday. The board will also hear testimony from the two entities it granted a petition to intervene: Philadelphia's existing casino, SugarHouse, and a group comprised of the Rodeph Shalom Synagogue, the Mathematics, Civics and Sciences Charter School and the Friends Select School, according to the Inquirer.
All sustainability hearings will be held at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. No public testimony will be heard at the sessions and no additional written comments will be accepted by the board. See story in the Inquirer.
