MIAMI-Gumenick Properties is planning a $40-million renovation program at its Southgate Towers apartment development in Miami Beach.

The twin-tower apartment buildings at 900 and 910 West Ave. were built in 1960 and contain 495 units. ADD Inc. has been hired as the architectural and design firm for the project, according to the South Florida Business Journal.

The capital improvement program calls for the properties to get a new blue and white façade, with new balconies and aluminum screens. The lobby, lounge, clubroom and fitness center will be renovated and residences will be upgraded with new carpeting, porcelain tile, lighting fixtures, cabinetry, washer and dryers and hurricane-proof windows.

The project is expected to be completed sometime in 2015. See story in the South Florida Business Journal.
