CHICAGO-The planned hub for high-tech startup companies has been named “Matter” and will be located at Merchandise Mart.

The 25,000-square-foot incubator will be located next to 1871, a digital technology hub it was fashioned after, according to Crain's Chicago Business.

The project will receive $4 million in funding from the state of Illinois, including a $2.5-million grant and $1.5-million loan. Gov. Pat Quinn was expected to make an announcement concerning the Matter hub project today.

“Matter will serve as a central location to empower entrepreneurs and spur economic growth, while advancing Illinois' role as a national leader in life sciences and health innovation,” Gov. Quinn states. See story at Crain's Chicago Business.
