WASHINGTON, DC-A building permit was issued on Thursday in connection with a project to build a nine-story mixed-use property at 16th and Eye streets here.

ICG Properties LLC and The JBG Cos. were issued a building permit for the 141,026-square-foot office building project that will include three floors of below grade parking, ground floor retail and a future church, according to the Washington Business Journal.

The existing Third Church of Christ, Scientist complex, including the seven-story Christian Science Monitor building and Brutalist-style church, will be demolished. Miller & Chevalier Chartered has agreed to lease 70% of the office building. See story in the Washington Business Journal.
