BALTIMORE—Mayor Rawlings-Blake is scheduled to propose larger property tax breaks for industrial properties in Southeast Baltimore on Monday.

The new policy, if approved, would include the site for a new Amazon warehouse, according to the Baltimore Sun.

A new "focus area," which must be approved by the state of Maryland, would grant property owners in the focus area a 10-year, 80% property tax credit on value added by physical improvements. The proposal also would spike credits granted for wages paid to new employees and would offer breaks for investments in machinery and other “personal property.”

In addition to the Amazon warehouse, properties in the target area also include the Sun Products plant and the Mars distribution center that are both slated for closure. See story in the Baltimore Sun.
