EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ—Gov. Chris Christie gave hearty endorsement to the agreement between developer Triple Five and the ownership of the Jets and Giants that will allow the American Dream project to move forward here.
"Having been an advocate for this project since the beginning, I am extremely pleased that American Dream is now finally moving forward," Christie said Wednesday. "This project will bring thousands of construction jobs and full-time employment to the Meadowlands and be an engine of economic growth for the entire region."
He noted that the deal formally announced by the New Jersey Exposition Authority Wednesday - although news broke late Tuesday - will result in the “immediate recommencement" of construction at the long-stalled retail/entertainment site off Route 3, adjacnt to MetLife stadium whre the teams play. "Once it's completed and has opened its doors, American Dream will be a dynamic, world-class tourist destination for years to come," Christie says. "I thank everyone involved for their good-faith efforts working together to make American Dream a reality." Read more at NJBiz.
