BALTIMORE-The $1.8-billion Harbor Point project is at the cusp of receiving final approvals that will allow construction to begin on the massive waterfront project that will include the development of a new headquarters for Exelon Corp.
On Thursday, the US Environmental Protection Agency and the Maryland Department of the Environment approved Beatty Development's plan to monitor air quality during construction. The proposal requires air samples to be taken every 15 minutes at the former chromium plant project site. Off-site monitoring will continue at the National Aquarium and the Baltimore City Fire Station in Old Town, according to the Baltimore Sun.
The state environmental agency is still studying what level of dust would require the developer to take remedial action. An agency spokesman said the study of air samples could be completed this week. See story in the Baltimore Sun.
