WASHINGTON, DC—The DC Housing Authority has whittled down the list of prospective teams that are vying to redevelop its headquarters down to five.

The five teams are: CityInterests and CIM, The JBG Cos., MRP Realty and CSG, Republic Properties and the team of WC SmithAkridge and Capstone.

The existing DCHA property, bounded by North Capitol, M and Pierce streets, "translated to more than 1 million gross square feet of developable property due to transferable development credits and permitted density." The redevelopment project must include a new, 80,000-square-foot DCHA headquarters building and a mixed-use, mixed-income residential component, according to the Washington Business Journal. The project also requires the development of a 46,000-square-foot off-site DCHA facility.

“Our surrounding neighborhood is in the midst of revitalization,” DCHA Executive Director Adrianne Todman stated. “This is the perfect opportunity for us to get a better building more suited to the work we do, provide more retail and amenities to this neighborhood, and, of utmost importance, leverage this valuable land into dollars for even more affordable housing.” See story in the Washington Business Journal.
