RICHARDSON, TX—Military contractor Raytheon Company will join State Farm Insurance in Richardson's new CityLine development, occupying three buildings totaling 490,000-square-feet.

The campus will be constructed near the southwest corner of Wyndham Lane and Bush Turnpike. Developer KDC will erect three buildings for project which will house 1,700 Raytheon employees now located in Garland. The Raytheon complex will be part of the planned, mixed-use CityLine project, that will also include apartments, shops and hotels on 186-acres.

“Moving our Garland operations to this state-of-the-art facility in Richardson, Texas, will provide an outstanding modern work environment for our 1,700 employees and visitors and will allow for expansion as our business grows,”  Lynn Dugle, president of Raytheon intelligence, information and services, said in a statement.  ”Our new offices will also help us support the missions of our customers and will better reflect our role as a global technology and innovation leader in such areas as information processing, big data, cyber security, and weather data exploitation.”

The Garland office, which has been in operation since the 1950s, will be closed. The new office campus in Richardson will be ready late next year. Raytheon, of Waltham, MA, has 8,000 employees in North Texas. Last year, the company relocated its space and airborne systems headquarters to McKinney from Southern California.

“Raytheon's selection of Richardson's Telecom Corridor area speaks to our community's long-standing reputation as a high-tech hub, our tech-savvy workforce and our ongoing commitment to building an environment for the world's most innovative companies,” Richardson Mayor Laura Maczka said in an article published in the Dallas Morning News. “We are also excited about this addition to KDC's CityLine project, which is poised to become one of the region's premier mixed-use developments, anchored by outstanding corporate citizens.”

Developer KDC last month said that State Farm will add a fourth building with another 500,000 square feet. The Illinois-based insurer is expected to have close to 8,000 workers in the new regional office center.

Apartment builder JLB Partners and KDC are building the residential portion of the community in two phases on the west side of Plano Road.
