EAST HANOVER, NJ—Novartis Pharmaceuticals announced on Monday that it will lay off 215 workers in New Jersey, a majority of the job cuts being support staff personnel who work at the firm's headquarters here.

The Switzerland-based company filed a notice with the state Department of Labor concerning the pending layoffs, which will be effective as of June 30, according to the Star-Ledger. Another 20 Novartis workers at other locations in the US are also part of the latest round of company job cuts. Affected workers will be offered job placement services and severance.

The layoffs come just two months after Novartis announced 92 jobs were to be eliminated at its operations in New Jersey, part of the more than 750 sales and support staffers nationwide slated to lose their jobs. The job cuts are part of a company-wide reorganization that was announced in January. See story in the Star-Ledger.
