HARRISBURG, PA-The state of Pennsylvania's unemployment rate is now at the lowest level since October 2008.

The Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry released the state's employment data for the month of March on Friday. The agency stated that the state's unemployment rate for March fell two tenths of a percentage point from February to 6%.

A year ago, the state's unemployment rate stood at 7.7%, according to the Philadelphia Business Journal. Over the past year, total nonfarm jobs in Pennsylvania were up 17,200, due primarily to private sector job growth. The largest gains were in leisure & hospitality (+14,300) and professional & business services (+5,700). See story in the Philadelphia Business Journal.
