WASHINGTON, DC—A host of major developers obtained building permits earlier this week for their various ventures, including the owner of the storied Watergate Hotel.

Euro Capital Properties, Inc., the owner of the infamous 251-room hotel property, acquired its permit that will allow it to proceed with the renovation of the property that will also involve the addition of 91 rooms. The plans also include the upgrade of the meeting spaces, ballroom, spa, pool, restaurant, bar, kitchen, roof bar and sports facilities, according to the Washington Business Journal.

Other significant ventures that obtained permits include the planned 11-story mixed use project at 600 Massachusetts Ave. NW and the foundation to grade permit for the new Hyatt Place hotel at 400 E St. SW. Work on the new hotel began in December.

The Gould Co. project totals 400,000 square feet and will feature both office and retail space. The building will also contain one basement level and three levels of underground parking (203 spaces). See story in the Washington Business Journal.
