BOWIE, MD—The City Council discussed thedilapidated Bowie Marketplace earlier this weekand revealed that the new owner of the long-dormant retail centeris looking to redevelop the property.
Berman Enterprises, the new owner of the BowieMarketplace, is committed to tearing down the shopping center andreplace it with a grocery-anchored center, according to BowieEconomic Development Director JohnHenry King. The property is located at 15505 AnnapolisRoad across from the successful Free State Shopping Center.
Berman is close to signing a grocer for the project, King toldthe Council. He said the Council should expect to see a proposalfrom Berman in coming months, according to the Capital Gazette. “Weare so close we can all taste it, but no deal has been signed yet,”King said.
