WASHINGTON, DC—A host of dignitaries, includingWashington, DC Mayor Vincent Gray andMarriott Board Chairman BillMarriott are expected to be on hand today to dedicate thelargest hotel facility in the city—The Marriott MarquisWashington, D.C. hotel.

Today's scheduled dedication ceremony marks the end of thelong-standing effort by government and business officials toestablish a convention center hotel adjacent to the WalterE. Washington Convention Center.

The 1,175-room hotel at 9th Street and Massachusetts Ave. NW isthe largest hotel in DC, slightly ahead of the MarriottWardman Park at 1,169 rooms. The Gaylord NationalResort and Conference Center in National Harbor is stillthe region's largest hotel with 2,000 rooms, according to theWashington Business Journal.
