ATLANTIC CITY, NJ—In the ongoing shakeout of casino propertieshere comes word from Bob McDevitt, president ofUnite Here Local 54 that The ShowboatAtlantic City Hotel and Casino will announce today that itwill be closing soon.

McDevitt says that workers will be receiving required WARNnotices today of the impending closure of the casino hotel. “I knowthat the workers are getting issued WARN Act notices tomorrow,”McDevitt said on Thursday. “We were notified by the company todayand we began notifying the workers immediately.”

The casino employed more than 2,100 workers as of June 2,according to The Press of Atlantic City.
