WASHINGTON, DC—As tenant The Advisory Board Co. explores its space options, Washington Real Estate Investment Trust is formulating plans to convince the company there is no place like home.

WRIT is looking at options of its own to persuade The Advisory to keep its corporate headquarters at 2445 M St. NW and 1227 25th St. NW. The Advisory Board leases approximately 300,000 square feet at those buildings. The Advisory Board's leases expire at 2445 M St. in 2017 and at 1227 25th St. in 2019, according to the Washington Business Journal. The firm has retained JLL to assist it in its office search effort.

WRIT Senior Vice President Tom Regnell says, "We value Advisory Board as an important customer and our goal is to find a way to retain them for the long term," Regnell says. "We are actively engaged in discussions to find a creative solution that will meet their long-term needs that includes the potential redesign and connectivity of the two buildings."
