ATLANTIC CITY, NJ—State regulators have given the Showboat Casino Hotel the green light to shut its doors on Aug. 31.
The state Division of Gaming Enforcement approved the Showboat Casino Hotel closure date on Monday. According to the order signed by Division of Gaming Enforcement Director David Rebuck, Showboat must continue casino-cage operations until 5 p.m. on Aug. 31 so vouchers and chips can be redeemed, according to the Press of Atlantic City. Poker operations are scheduled to end 6 a.m. Aug. 30.
The planned closure of the Showboat Casino Hotel was announced in June by Showboat parent Caesars Entertainment, which has stated that Showboat's 2,100 employees will be given preference at its other Atlantic City casinos—Bally's, Harrah's and Caesars—and at other properties in the region.
Other pending casino closures in Atlantic City include Revel Casino Hotel and Trump Plaza Hotel. See story in the Press of Atlantic City.
