OWINGS MILLS, MD—Kimco Realty Corp., part owner of the half-vacant Owings Mills Mall here, says it will redevelop the property and will not put the property on the market for sale, despite calls by some in the area to do so.

Ever since the Wegmans-anchored shopping center Foundry Row secured approvals and began construction, the Ownings Mills Mall ownership has not released any new plans for the property, which has promoted some in the area, including Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz, to call for Kimco to sell the property and allow the new owner to redevelop it, according to the Baltimore Business Journal.

Tom Simmons, a regional vice president for Kimco, says the property is not for sale. "That asset was always a long-term hold, and there's a lot of shifting in the market," Simmons says. The property's redevelopment has "evolved, but Foundry Row being up in the air so long really slowed it down. We're still working on a grandiose plan." See story in the Baltimore Business Journal.
