NEWARK, NJ—A project to redevelop a former psychiatric facility in the Fairmont Heights section of the city appears poised to break ground sometime in 2015.
The Greater Newark Housing Partnership is behind the project to build an affordable housing development at 128-134 South 10th St. that will predominantly provide supportive housing for the formerly homeless, according to NJ.com.
The complex will feature four studio apartments, nine one-bedroom apartments, and eight two-bedroom units. About 15 of those units will targeted toward formerly homeless individuals and families, who will be offered support services by Apostles' House of Newark, the development group said.
A two-family house with two affordable three-bedroom apartments is planned nearby. The project is being developed by GNHP in partnership with Parkmont Housing and Redevelopment, LLC. See story at nj.com.
