NEWPORT BEACH, CA—CBRE Group Inc. EVP Bethany Bailey has had a lot to celebrate over the last several years. The firm's Southern California Region Rookie of the Year for Debt & Equity in 2007 has originated in excess of $6.8 billion, comprising nearly 95,000 units, and has had two babies in the last four years with one on the way.
Named one of the “2014 Fifty Under 40” by GlobeSt.com's sister publication Real Estate Forum, Bailey has ranked among the top 2% of professionals nationwide at age 35. Her team was named CBRE's National Top Overall Multifamily Production Team of the Year in 2012, and their phenomenal performance earned the Newport Beach, CA, office external recognition from Freddie Mac as the Western Region Top Seller/Servicer of 2012 and 2013.
This success caps a six-year streak for Bailey, who ranked in CBRE's Top 225 Producers of the Americas for the last four years and for the last six years has been a regional top performer. Her achievements set the bar for women who successfully balance work and family commitments.
Regarding how she manages to achieve this balance so seamlessly, Bailey tells GlobeSt.com, “I certainly don't do it alone. My husband supports me in everything I do, and our children ensure I leave home each morning with a smile. My partner, Troy Tegeler, and colleagues at work are just as supportive, and I enjoy working with them each day. Balancing work and home life isn't easy, but my success in doing so is really a reflection of those around me.”
She adds that she truly enjoys her job, and a big reason for that is the firm's clients. “Our core clients are really great people, and I've been fortunate to build strong relationships with them over the years. Working with them as they advance their business plans becomes quite personal, so when we achieve success together with our clients, it is incredibly rewarding.”
Bailey maintains that work and home priorities will always be a balancing act, “but it's made easier by my love for my job. My colleagues support me in so many ways and allow me to focus on the deals we execute. I take a lot of pride in what I do, and enjoy any successes with my family and colleagues.”
Bailey is currently responsible for multifamily loan originations. Over the course of her career, she has focused on agency executions and management of the loan process. She is charged with coordinating the borrower, lender, council, third-party vendors and all of the deliveries from initial loan sizing to closing. Along with Tegeler, she currently executes an average of 70 deals per year and has completed more than 400 transactions since 2007.
In the current market, Bailey has had average annual loan originations exceeding $1.3 billion for the past three years. Over the course of her career, she has been responsible for processing and closing more than $8 billion in loan transactions.
Bailey has also been active in charitable activities as a Challenged Athletes Foundation participant and supporter from 2009 to 2014. CAF provides opportunities and support to people with physical disabilities so they can pursue active lifestyles through physical fitness.
