WASHNGTON, DC—Locally-based Douglas Development Corp. has filed permits with the district to move two buildings on New York Avenue to make way for its mixed-use Square 450 project.

The firm plans to brace and move the four story Manhattan Transfer Co. building, which was formerly home to the DC Eagle bar, and the four-story commercial building at 632L. The relocations to new locations on the development lot will allow the development firm to build its 420,000-square-foot mixed-use Square 450 development at 655 New York Ave. Douglas Development secured raze permits from the district for both properties, according to the Washington Business Journal.

The Square 450 project calls for 70,969 square feet of retail development and 349,031 square feet of office space. According to the company's website, the building will be a mid-rise tower 10 levels above grade. It will also include three parking levels below grade that will accommodate 300 spaces. The project is adjacent to the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. See story in the Washington Business Journal.
