WASHINGTON, DC—The Salvation Army is reportedly considering relocating its Pennsylvania Avenue headquarters to Northern Virginia.
The Salvation Army has hired The Ezra Co. to filed offers, but Ezra Vice President Mike Norris says the 32,750-square-foot building at 2626 Pennsylvania Ave. NW and its adjacent land isn't officially on the market. Ezra is fielding offers from interested buyers, and with the right offer, the Salvation Army would consider selling its current property and buying a new headquarters site in Northern Virginia, according to the Washington Business Journal. The Salvation Army acquired the site for $6.62 million in 1998.
"There comes a point where you just have to stop and at least assess it," says Salvation Army Maj. Andrew Wiley, divisional secretary for the Salvation Army's National Capital & Virginia Division.
Norris says the organization's property has garnered a significant amount of interest, including queries from developers considering luxury residential use. See story in the Washington Business Journal.
