WASHINGTON, DC—JLL has brought on board two more brokers to deepen its retail bench. Thomas Jackman and Andy Corno will be joining JLL's national Retail Brokerage services' local office as vice presidents from Lincoln Property Co. and CBRE, respectively.
Jackman and Corno will work with JLL's Mid-Atlantic retail tenant reps Greg Ferrante and Arris Noble, and Bill Moylan, who also joined JLL recently from CBRE, to lead its Mid-Atlantic retail operations.
Both Corno and Jackman have about 20 years of industry experience each. Before he joined Lincoln Property Co. in 2009, Jackman worked for CBRE's Retail Services Group in the market.
Corno, before he joined CBRE, handled leasing for Abbey Co., Washington REIT, and worked in corporate services for CRESA.
JLL has been expanding its retail headcount nationwide, with Jackman and Corno only the most recent hires. Over the last eight months JLL has added 50 new retail brokers to its payroll in such cities as New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago and Texas.
As for the local DC area market, there are some shifts underway that make adding more resources to its retail team a smart idea.
For example, Washington DC's retail market is attracting more retailers and investors alike, with a surge in luxury retailers and restaurants in particular, according to JLL's Mid-Atlantic Market Director Mike Ellis. "The city is positioned to remain strong for the next 24 months," he said.
Meanwhile other brokers are attempting to gain a foothold in the market or expand market share. As one example, Marcus & Millichap's TZD Group has been trying to carve a niche for itself with class B and class C strip centers.
