NEW ORLEANS – Kenneth Lamy, founder, president and CEO of DataPoint International LLC anticipated that the mood at RECon 2019 would be cautiously optimistic. The reason? Because of the continuous changes taking place across the industry.

“With transformation well underway and store closures outpacing 2018, opportunity is everywhere,” he tells GlobeSt.com. “This period is a generational opportunity for the industry to reinvent itself.”

According to Lamy, the status quo is no longer an option. For that reason, he says, “everyone engaged in the industry will either learn, grow or adapt, or they and their companies will lose their position and die off.”

He adds that “A new paradigm and threshold moment are upon us. It’s time to take action…pull the trigger.”

The result of that, he says, is that attendees at this year’s show will be focused on discovery—on the new and hot concepts in retail, education and professional development, food and beverage, health and wellness, technological innovation, student engagement, client relations and networking, among other topics.
