After standing at loggerheads over pricing at the beginning of this year, buyers and sellers of commercial real estate assets are returning to market – but, according to Northmarq’s VP Katie Elliott, “it’s taking a lot longer.”

We caught up with Elliott and SVP Daniel Herrold at Northmarq’s first ICSC Las Vegas appearance following the firm’s acquisition of Stan Johnson Company late last year to talk about the current retail investment sales market.

They also discuss:

  • How sellers should ground their expectations as the debt markets continue to fluctuate;
  • Why a flight to quality will continue to characterize the current retail investment market; and
  • What investors should pay attention to in the capital structure to ensure closing.
