ORLANDO-The national wholesaler/distributor of commercial/industrial building materials is shrinking its 700-person staff by 40 staffers, a 6% cut. Disney started its final phase of eliminating 4,000 jobs nationwide and 1,650 positions in Orlando, some of them in property management and real estate-related support work.

ORLANDO-The 55-year-old, locally based precast concrete specialty firm is breaking ground in August on an innovative seven-story, 230,000-sf mixed-use building that will house five floors of parking, one level of retail and two floors of student dormitories for Palm Beach Atlantic College.

ATLANTA-Commonwealth Commercial Properties is breaking ground in May on Overlook Distribution Center, a 170,000-sf project on 11 acres along Horizon Parkway at Interstate 985. The estimated $60 million structure is targeting a November completion.

ORLANDO-With models still under construction, the Dallas-based builder has racked up $4 million in pre-construction sales, selling 24 of the 70 townhomes at Park Maitland Villas in suburban Maitland at prices from $146,900 to the mid-$190s.

ATLANTA-Dan Cathy, executive vice president of the 55-year-old chicken sandwich franchising company, has replaced retiring James L.S. Collins as president and chief operating officer of the privately held, locally based firm.

ATLANTA-Despite lower than expected earnings per share to be logged for the period ending July 1, the former LongHorn Steaks Inc. posted increases in same-store sales for all three of its restaurant products in the second quarter through June 3.
