The property is yet another project that is contributing to the redevelopment of Downtown Silver Spring into a live-work-play destination.

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA-The Filipino Fighting Arts Academy finds a home at the Lake James Shoppes on Lila Lane. The defense training facility will occupy about 1,600 sf of space at the tiny 15,000-sf strip center where space leases for $12 per sf.

HENRICO COUNTY-Advantis/GVA orchestrates the purchase of a nearly two-acre parcel that will ultimately become become home to a 15,000-sf Walgreens drugstore. Brook Road Realty LLC acquired the property, located on a corner lot, from Exxon Mobil Corp.

BETHESDA, MD-The follow-on offering of 5.52 million common shares leaves First Potomac Realty Trust with net proceeds totaling about $91 million. The REIT plans to direct the funds toward the previously announced acquisition of a 14-property portfolio, and toward the paying down of debt.

ALEXANDRIA, VA-A financing package totaling approximately $16.6 million is put together for the acquisition of the Atrium Building, a 140,000-sf office structure in Old Town Alexandria. NorthMarq arranged the financing for a joint venture involving Carr Capital and Aetna Insurance Co.

MCLEAN, VA-The 500-unit Lincoln at Tysons apartment complex finds a new owner in Post Properties Inc. The Atlanta-based REIT shells out $83 million to acquire the 14-year-old property that sits in the popular and well-traveled suburban Washington, DC submarket of Tysons Corner.

UPPER MARLBORO, MD-Collington Trade Center takes a step closer to realization with a recent groundbreaking for the 200,000-sf flex/warehouse/office property at the 936-acre Collington Center industrial park. The complex, which will cost $14 million to develop, will consist of two single-story structures.
