ARLINGTON, VA-The Navy League of the United States says in with the old and out with the new as it secures a $39-million construction-financing package to develop its new headquarters. Upon completion of the 214,000-sf structure, the league will occupy 20,000 sf for its offices and will lease out the remaining space.

ALEXANDRIA, VA-The new $885 million headquarters for the US Patent and Trademark Office comes closer to its planned 2005 completion with the recent topping out of two of the five office buildings that will ultimately occupy the 15-acre campus.

WASHINGTON, DC-Ownership of the eight-story edifice at 2300 N St. changes hands in a $114 million transaction between seller Boston Properties and buyer Blue Capital Investments Inc. The 280,000-sf, class A office tower has been around since 1986 when Boston Properties completed its development.

ARLINGTON, VA-Rosslyn Gateway makes a portfolio jump from Trizec Office Properties Inc. to the JBG Cos. For JBG, the deal marks a re-acquisition, as the company had owned the two-building, 253,000-sf office complex before handing it over to Trizec in 1998.

CHESAPEAKE, VA-Expansion is in the air here as Hudd Distribution Services Inc., a logistics support provider, expands its distribution facility from 225,000 sf to 305,000 sf. The project is expected to reach completion by the end of this July.

COLUMBIA, MD-The Hearing and Speech Agency's new $7-million headquarters gets underway. Developer and contractor Manekin LLC expects to complete the two-story 47,000-sf facility, which will be in the Seton Business Park, later this fall.

WASHINGTON, DC-While other markets languish, the real estate industry in the Washington, DC region continues to bring in the big bucks, as evidenced by Phillips Realty Capital's closing of $600 million in debt and equity transactions in 2002. And the company says it is already on the path to achieve the same activity for 2003.
